BUDA – The Buda Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors announced the hiring of Interim Executive Director, Kenneth Higdon, CCE, IOM, a veteran of several Texas Chamber of Commerce programs.
Higdon, 67, a native of Andrews, Texas, has served for more than 40 years in various capacities with Chambers across Texas. He served more than 18 years with the Temple Chamber of Commerce. He is also a certified trainer with the US Institute for Organizational Management which specializes in training Chambers, Associations, and Economic Development professionals including Presidents/CEO, Executive Directors and staff of government and non-profit organizations.
“I have known Ken Higdon for nearly thirty years and am excited he will be leading us through the next stages of finding a permanent Executive Director,” noted John Hatch, Chairman of the Board of Directors. In the interim, Ken will ensure the Chamber continues to serve the members and community without pause.
The Buda Area Chamber of Commerce, founded in 1999, is the lead organization speaking on behalf of the business community. Over the last several years, the Chamber hosted Awards Galas to honor the work of outstanding business leaders. The Taste of Buda social media campaign, conducted by the Chamber, was a successful campaign to encourage citizens to support local restaurants during COVID. Last fall, the Chamber hosted the first ever Buda Rodeo and Mutton Busting competition. After a two-year hiatus, the Chamber will be bringing back the Fajita Fiesta this fall. These events will continue, and new projects to highlight our members are in development.
Director J.R. Gonzales has left to pursue other opportunities. “We thank J.R. for his years of service and wish him well in his new endeavors,” noted Hatch.
Operations will continue and anyone interested in joining the Chamber should contact the office at 512.295.9999.–30
