Annual Awards Banquet and Gala an Overwhelming Success

2014 Chamber Gala

This year’s 14th Annual Awards Banquet and Gala was an overwhelming success. The sold out crowd of chamber members and guests filled the south Austin venue for a night of fun and celebration.

The Oaks Event Center was the perfect venue for this year’s Mardi Gras themed banquet and gala. Their 5,000 square foot ballroom was transformed by chamber volunteers into a spectacular setting that made attendees feel like they were in The Big Easy.

One of the evening’s highlights was the food. The meal was prepared on site by The Oaks Event Center’s own chef. To start things off guests enjoyed a beautifully prepared Appetizer Station with domestic and imported cheese mixed with tropical fruits and berries. The presentation looked so impeccably delicious; it was almost a shame to actually eat this appetizer. Guests started off their meals with a Classic Caesar’s Salad with Herbed Croutons. Complete with a carving station, the meal was served buffet style, with a menu fitting of such a celebratory occasion. Guests enjoyed hand carved herb-crusted prime rib cooked to perfection and a Chicken Marsala. The sides served were four-cheese scalloped potatoes, sautéed spaghetti squash, fire roasted asparagus and freshly baked dinner rolls. The dessert of Mardi Gras Macaroons was generously donated by Dessert Diva.

2014 Chamber GalaThe evening was filled with activity. Along with a silent and live auction guests had their choice of fundraising games and activities such as a wine ring toss, a chance at a cash prize on 50/50, and a dinner for six at Longhorn Steakhouse for the winner of Heads and Tails.

Chairman of the Board Bret Kiester and Managing Director J.R. Gonzales shared duties as Master of Ceremonies for the evening. Vice Chair Michele Gonzalez served as our own version of Vanna White.

The awards presented that evening are as follows:

  • Large Business of the Year: H-E-B
  • Small Business of the Year: Cleveland’s
  • Business Person of the Year: Ann Miller, Buda Economic Development Corporation
  • Volunteer of the Year: Lisa Sauceda, Falcon Bank
  • Citizen of the Year: Bo Kidd, Buda Police Chief, and Dick Schneider, Former Buda Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director
  • Ambassador of the Year: Deborah Pacheco, Randolph-Brookes Federal Credit Union

Congratulations to all of the nominees and award winners.

2014 Chamber GalaAfter the awards and live auction gala guests enjoyed dancing to the sounds of Jazz Blues and Diamonds and were able to try their luck at the Knights of Columbus Casino Tables. Gala goers were able to memorialize the evening by having their picture taken by Red Carpet Experience, a complementary photo booth provided to guests.

Without the support of our sponsors and members this 14th annual awards and gala dinner would not have been possible. Financially the chamber met projected goals. Listed below is a list of this year’s sponsors. Please remember to support those who support us.
